Topo Map of 2nd/22nd's Area of Operations from December 1968 thru spring of 1969.

Captain Crocker created this map and it comes to us via Bennett Anderson. Read Ben's emails below for further clarification of the maps.

We spoke by phone and several emails a while back about providing Topo maps for our website. I sent you one or two to try out. At our Las Vegas reunion, Phil Zabloski gave me a B&W copy of a color 1:100000 topo map that Capt Crocker used prior to his death. Phil saved that map and years later managed to send it to Dave's brother Tom. Last fall I managed to get in touch with Tom and he consented to have it copied at a Staples and sent me the digital copy. I received it just before the reunion in Atlanta and managed to have it printed up and displayed it with the other VN era period topos in my collection. They were very well received. Dave penned in the road checkpoints, FSBs, and other points of interest, etc. While it covers a large area of our AO at the time, it is not complete coverage. I'm constantly looking for additional period era maps of our AO with our areas in Cambodia giving me the most trouble. The search continues on."

"As a followup of our phone conservation concerning Capt. Crocker's field map. The map was printed in Jan 1969 and used in the field following that period. The fire support bases (FSB) are marked in Red and labeled Also included are the Main Supply Route (MSR) checkpoints we used throughout the Area of Operations (AO) during the 2/22 deployment. The map depicts the general areas and FSBs from Dec. 68 through the late spring of 1969."

The map is also good looking when printed out for those interested.  After downloading the digital PDF copy it can be transferred to a thumb drive.  I took the thumb drive to Staples and had it printed in 'Blue Print' format on regular paper in its original size (28"x22") and the cost was less than $6.  Caution, if heaver poster quality paper is used, that will drive the cost up into the $60 range.  So be sure to specify what you are ordering.  Either product looks very good!
